• How long has Southington Rustic Fence Company been in business?

  Since 1948. We're a family-owned Connecticut fence company that has been hand-building fences and outdoor structures from our Southington workshop for over 75 years.

• Where are you located?

  Our workshop and showroom are at 134 Queen Street, Southington, Connecticut 06489. We're licensed in Connecticut as HIC #0644445.

• What towns do you serve?

  We install across 24 Connecticut towns: Southington, Berlin, Bristol, Cheshire, Cheshire Village, Durham, East Berlin, Farmington, Hartford, Kensington, Meriden, Middlefield, Milldale, New Britain, Newington, Plainville, Plantsville, Plymouth, Prospect, Rockfall, Terryville, Unionville, West Hartford, and Wolcott. We also ship materials direct to homeowners and contractors across CT, NY, NJ, and MA.

  Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. We're closed Saturday and Sunday.

Cedar

• What makes northern white cedar different from regular cedar?

  Northern white cedar is naturally rot-resistant, insect-resistant, and stable through Connecticut winters — it doesn't warp, twist, or shrink as much as other woods, and it weathers to a silver-gray naturally. Most big-box "cedar" panels are western red cedar or pine with cedar stain; ours is hand-built northern white cedar from our own workshop.

Aluminum

• Are your aluminum fences pool-code approved?

  Yes — many of our aluminum fence styles are BOCA pool-code approved. We make them in residential, commercial, industrial, and heavy-industrial grades, and they're available in several powder-coat colors.

• Are your aluminum fences made in the USA?

  Yes. Our aluminum fence sections are made from premium-grade aluminum alloy and proudly manufactured in the United States. They are guaranteed not to rust or deteriorate over time.

Gates

• What materials do your custom gates come in?

  We design and install gates in wooden, aluminum, vinyl, and steel. Every gate is built to match the fence and the site — we work closely with each client to design a custom solution that fits their specific requirements.

• Are your automatic gate installers certified?

  Yes. Our technicians are certified by the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation (IDEA), which means automated gate operators are installed to the highest industry standards.

Outdoor Structures

• Do you build custom arbors and pergolas?

  Yes. Our custom cedar and vinyl rose arbors and pergolas are hand-crafted to your exact specifications — cedar for natural beauty and rot/insect resistance, or vinyl for a low-maintenance, weather-resistant option.

• What are your lamp posts and mailbox posts made of?

  Our lamp posts and mailbox posts come in northern white cedar, low-maintenance vinyl, or solid cellular Azek composite. Lamp posts feature a 3-inch collar to accept all standard lanterns. We can customize color and style to complement your home.

Materials

• Do you sell materials, or only install?

  Both. We sell and install fencing materials directly to homeowners, DIYers, and contractors. Connecticut contractors and DIY customers can order cedar, vinyl, aluminum, and chain-link materials direct from our Southington showroom — and many products ship free to CT, NY, NJ, and MA.

• What kinds of fences do you build?

  Northern white cedar (privacy, picket, post-and-rail, and custom styles), vinyl (privacy, picket, ranch rail), aluminum (ornamental and pool-code), and chain link (galvanized and vinyl-coated). We also build custom gates, automatic gate systems, arbors, pergolas, lamp posts, and mailbox posts.

• Can contractors buy materials directly?

  Absolutely. We sell fencing materials directly to contractors at our Southington showroom, with free shipping on many products to Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Contact us for material-only orders.

• Do you do commercial fencing?

  Yes. We install custom security fencing, dumpster enclosures, sliding and cantilever gates, automatic gate systems, and chain link for Connecticut commercial properties. Our gate technicians are IDEA-certified.
